My writing process...

A quick bit of self-promotion before I begin. My first book for the Harlequin KISS/Mills & Boon Modern Tempted line is now available as a e-book from all good ebook sellers. Yay!
And now on with the show. Thanks to Zara Stoneley for inviting me on this blog tour. You can find her own writing process post at her blog here.
So, what am I working on?
At the moment I’m in the middle of writing book 3 (working title Tristan and Lula’s story) for the KISS/Modern Tempted line. These two meet in a pub and hit it off – leading to a hot night between the sheets - only to discover the next day that Tristan’s the guy who is meant to be firing Lula from her job. Sparks are gonna fly!
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
It’s all the voice. In category romance it’s usual – if not essential – to use tropes to set up the stories, so it’s a matter of finding a new angle that hasn’t been explored before. That comes from my characters being unique to me and the quirky ways in which I torment them.
Why do I write what I do?
Because it makes me happy. These are the kinds of stories I love to read, so it naturally follows that I’m going to love writing them too.
How does my writing process work?
Irratically! I have a few hours in the week when all my children are at school or preschool and I try to get as many words down as I can then. I find it easier being out of the house so I don’t get distracted by the dishwasher that needs unloading or the clothes that need hanging up.
Historically I’ve been a pantser, but after finding myself struggling to keep book 2 on track I’ve started planning my stories at lot more thoroughly. I like to write my books in ten chapters, so I try to break down the story into that many sections, then check I have strong enough internal conflcts and all the other elements for a successful story.
As I appear to be one of the last people in the world to be part of this tour I only have one lovely writer friend taking the baton:
Cait O'Sullivan grew up in Ireland with wanderlust in her blood. She currently lives in a leafy suburb of London after traveling the world, where she creates stories from her thoughts and memories.
Learn more about her and her own writing process at caitosullivan.blogspot.com next Monday (10th March).
Ta ta for now!

Sorry for being shy...
It's been sooooo looooong since I wrote anything here. I have exciting news, which you may have already heard if you're connected with me on Twitter or Facebook.
I SOLD TO HARLEQUIN MILLS & BOON!
As you can probably tell, I'm a little bit excited.
The wonderful Nicola Marsh is going to have my call story on her blog the week after next so if you fancy reading about my Naked Call (yes, I did say naked) then pop over and join me in a week or so. I'll give you a nudge nearer the time.
Hope you're enjoying the weather. I am.
